Scope:
The design and installation of plumbing systems, including sanitary
and storm drainage, sanitary facilities, water supplies, storm water and
sewage disposal in buildings, shall comply with the requirements of this
code.
The design and installation of gas piping, chilled water piping in
connection with refrigeration processes and comfort cooling, and hot
water piping in connection with building heating shall conform to the
requirements of the mechanical code listed in Appendix A. The design
and installation of piping for fire sprinklers and standpipes shall
conform to the requirements of the building code listed in Appendix A.
Water and drainage connections to such installations shall be made in
accordance with the requirements of this code.
Intent: This code shall be construed liberally and justly to secure the
proper installation of systems for furnishing potable water, for
sanitary sewage disposal and storm drainage; and to insure public
safety, health and welfare insofar as they are affected by the
installation and maintenance of plumbing.
APPLICABILITY
General: The provisions of these regulations shall cover all matters
affecting or relating to buildings and structures as set forth in
Section P-100.0.
Matters not provided for: Any plumbing requirement essential for the
sanitary safety of an existing or proposed building or structure or
essential for the safety of the occupants thereof, and which is not
specifically covered by this code, shall be determined by the code
official.
Continuation of unlawful use: The continuation of occupancy or use of a
building or structure or part thereof contrary to the provisions of this
code shall be deemed a violation, and subject to the penalties
prescribed in Section P-117.0.
Referenced standards: The standards referenced in this code and listed
in Appendix A shall be considered part of the requirements of this code
to the prescribed extent of each such reference. Where differences
occur between provisions of this code and referenced standards, the
provisions of this code shall apply.
