Scope:
This specification covers polyethylene (PE) pipe that is outside
diameter controlled, made in
Schedule 40 and 80 sizes for use with socket-type fittings and butt
fittings joined by heat fusion,
and pressure-rated for water (see appendix). Included are criteria for
classifying PE plastic pipe
materials and PE plastic pipe, a system of nomenclature for PE plastic
pipe, and requirements and
test methods for materials, workmanship, dimensions, sustained
pressure, burst pressure, and
environmental stress cracking. Requirements for marking are also
given.
