Scope:

The provisions of this article address those aspects of health care plumbing systems which differ from plumbing systems in other buildings.

Hospital plumbing systems shall conform to the requirements of this article and to the requirements contained in the other articles of this code. The provisions of this article shall apply to the special devices and equipment installed and maintained in the following types of institutions and establishments: nursing homes, homes for the aged, orphanages, infirmaries, first aid stations, psychiatric facilities, clinics, professional offices of dentists and doctors, mortuaries, educational facilities, surgery, dentistry, research and testing laboratories and establishments manufacturing pharmaceutical drugs and medicines and other structures with similar apparatus and equipment classified as plumbing.
