Scope:

This specification covers requirements for poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) solvent cements to be used in joining poly(vinyl chloride) piping systems.

These solvent cements are used with poly(vinyl chloride) piping systems made from compounds as defined in Specifications D 1784, D 3915, and D 4396.

A procedure for joining PVC pipe and fittings is given in Practice D 2855.

The text of this specification references notes, footnotes, and appendixes which provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of the specification.

The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
