The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers Inc. (ASHRAE) published the 62.2 User's Manual for the ASHRAE 62.2-2004 - Ventilation and Acceptable Indoor Air Quality in Low-Rise Residential Buildings standard.
The manual is designed to aid users in designing and constructing homes and apartments that comply with the residential ventilation and indoor air quality standard.
The manual, which was co-developed by the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA), provides the minimum requirements necessary to achieve acceptable indoor air quality for dwellings.
According to ASHRAE, the manual is targeted toward builders and subcontractors, but also will be useful for code officials, researchers and interested homeowners.
The manual features:
- An explanation of how to comply with all the requirements of ASHRAE 62.2-2004.
- Examples illustrating specific methods of complying with sections of the standard.
- Background material to explain why many of the requirements of the standard exist.
"The manual has been developed as a document that will accompany standard 62.2 and provide guidance for applying its requirements to the design and construction of residential buildings," David Grimsrud, chair of the ASHRAE Standard 62.2 committee, said. "It serves as a guide to clarifying issues for users."
The 62.2 User's Manual, which costs $36 for ASHRAE members and $45 for nonmembers, is available on the ASHRAE web site at http://www.ashrae.org.
