Part L revisions include:
- Predicted CO2 emissions from new buildings must be 20% to 28% less than emissions allowed for new buildings built under current regulations.
- A sampling of new dwellings in each development, and all non-dwellings, will be required to undergo airtightness testing. Test results will be figured into the CO2 emission calculation.
- When large non-domestic buildings are extended, consequential improvements to the existing building's energy performance will be required.
Part F revisions include:
- Equivalent area, not free area, will be used to assess the performance of background ventilators.
- Trickle vents or other methods of background ventilation provision will be required for replacement windows.
- Minimum fresh air supply rate increased from eight to 10 litres per second per person.
Alternative prescriptive and performance-based methods of illustrating compliance are available.
