Weyerhaeuser iLevel Earns ICC-ES Sustainable, Green Building Verification

A building products program from Weyerhaeuser, iLevel, received verification from International Code Council (ICC) subsidiary ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), confirming the sustainable attributes of the company's structural framing products.
According to ICC-ES, Weyerhaeuser is the first company to receive its Verification of Attributes Report (VAR-1800).
VAR -1008 provides a source for identifying how a given product or products can potentially contribute to "points" under one or more green building rating systems, said ICC-ES.
The verification is meant to provide building professionals with a way to see how products fit into life cycle assessment (LCA) and other areas of green building.
The green building rating systems, standards and codes included in iLevel's VAR are:
- The 2008 National Association of Home Builders and ICC National Green Building Standard.
- The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED 2009 for New Construction and Major Renovation (including versions 2.2).
- USGBC's LEED for Homes
- 2008 California Green Building Standards Code (Title 24, Part 11).
- Green Building Initiative's Green Globes.
In addition to evaluating iLevel products against specific rating system provisions, ICC-ES evaluated them in four of its Sustainable Attributes Verification and Evaluation (SAVE) program categories:
- Bio-based material content.
- Regional materials or products.
- Air quality emissions.
- Certified wood content.
According to ICC-ES, iLevel's entire line of engineered wood products and solid-sawn lumber are listed in the SAVE VAR, including:
- TJI joists.
- TimberStrand laminated strand lumber.
- Parallam parallel strand lumber.
- iLevel Edge and Edge Gold OSB floor panels.
- Microllam laminated veneer lumber.
- iLevel Framer Series lumber.
- iLevel premium joists.
- All other wood structural framing products.
The VAR-1008 also includes iLevel software programs and support services designed to improve structural frame efficiency and minimize job site wood waste.
