The Concrete Centre published a design manual that provides a reference and revision tool, which was said to be popular with 2006 IStructE Chartered Membership examinations.
The Building Scheme Design Manual was structured to reflect the examination questions of the IStructE. It includes a section devoted to assisting engineers to develop structural solutions plus quick reference tables to assist the selection of appropriate solutions for concrete floors, foundations, piles and retaining walls.
Of use for both the examination and for the design office, the manual also includes guidance on design appraisals, design calculations and identification of the principal elements to design.
Production of plans, section and elevations are covered with numerous examples including slabs, waterproofing, foundations, cladding supports and movement joints. These are intended to act as a prompt to help ensure that features are included in the drawings rather than as a source to copy.
The Building Scheme Design Manual is available through The Concrete Centre at http://www.concretebookshop.com.
