IHS Safety Standards Collection

The Safety Standards Collection from IHS provides access to technical standards from U.S. standards organizations that are referenced within OSHA 1910, Occupational Health and Safety Standards. The US Department of Labor's voluminous regulation, which covers general worker safety in the areas of:

  • Walking and Working Surfaces
  • Means of Egress
  • Powered Platforms, Manlifts, and Vehicle-Mounted Work Platforms
  • Occupational Health and Environmental Control
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • General Environmental Controls
  • Medical and First Aid
  • Fire Protection
  • Compressed Gas and Compressed Air Equipment
  • Materials Handling and Storage
  • Machinery and Machine Guarding
  • Hand and Portable Powered Tools and Other Hand-Held Equipment Welding, Cutting, and Brazing
  • Special Industries
  • Electrical
  • Commercial Diving Operations

The regulatory document does not graphically or numerically detail many of the engineering aspects required for compliance. Instead, it references more standards developed by professional associations particular to the specific subject. The Safety Standards Collection is a compilation of these referenced occupational safety and health standards from the following societies: ACI, AMT, ANSI, API, ASA, ASME, ASSE, ASTM, AWS, CGA, IEEE, ISO, NEMA, NFPA, NSC, and UL.
